The once-reliable Canon 814XL-S video camera has hit rock bottom. Its lens is now notorious for fusing, leaving a trail of distorted footage in its wake. We're not sure what's more impressive - the sheer number of times this camera's lens has gone haywire or the fact that it still manages to produce decent results when you really need them most.
We've been sent this camera on its last legs, and let's be honest, we're not holding our breath. Its electronic shutter is as reliable as a broken promise, and the 1080p resolution it once promised now feels like a laughable attempt at image quality. And don't even get us started on the autofocus - it's as finicky as a newborn kitten.
Despite its questionable reputation, we've tried to salvage what's left of this camera's usefulness. We've captured some... interesting footage, but let's just say that "interesting" is a generous term for these shots. If you're in the market for a reliable video camera that will produce subpar results at best, then this might be the one for you. But if you want something with a little more oomph, look elsewhere.
Specifications include 1080p resolution, electronic shutter, and lens fungus (yes, that's a thing). We're not sure what other features we've missed out on but it can't be good.
